IPv6 Day a Couple of Days After
June 8th IPv6 World day came and went without any major glitches,
let alone disruption of the internet, and witnessed varying traffic
fluctuations depending where on the net observations were made.
From a Tata Communications AS6453 perspective, a global tier 1 IP
wholesale network, data gathered by a number of probes gave an
interesting pulse on what happened in some major international
arteries of the internet.

to the new IPv6 standard. Businesses need to know and understand
this transition - because there will be new security problems in
the interim period.

World IPv6 Day a success, but IPv6 security problems only beginning
The successful global test of IPv6 on June 8 proved the new
Internet protocol is fit for purpose and much of the underlying
infrastructure is already in place to support it. The 24-hour test,
during which major websites such as Google, Yahoo and Facebook
moved all functionality to the new Internet protocol version,
resulted in no known serious errors or problems in the day or so
following the test.
