IPv6 address design
There are a few culprits that regularly contribute to delayed or
failed IPv6 deployment projects, such as poor DNS planning,
insufficient testing, unanticipated application behavior, and poor
IPv6 support in peripheral support, management, or security
systems. Many deployment projects suffer temporary halts when the
original IPv6 address design is found to be inadequate – in a few
cases, the address design has had to be reworked more than
once.
Even worse that an IPv6 address design that halts a project is a
design that is just good enough to allow the project to proceed,
but bad enough that it will saddle the network with expensive
operational difficulties for years to come.

Enterprise IPv6 address planning considerations
With interest in IPv6 accelerating and adoption heating up more
attention is being paid to address planning, but where do you
start?
Organizations should already be working toward securing an
adequately sized address block. You want to move quickly to avoid
the possibility of demand exceeding the capacity of Regional
Internet Registries and Service Providers ability to service these
requests quickly. If it turns into a land grab as some predict, you
want to be ahead of the pack.
